What is the difference between saxon teacher and dive

Students can easily move backward or forward within a lesson or problem until they understand it. Each level has 6 CD-ROMS with the first 5 containing the lesson and problem explanations and the 6th showing solutions to each test problem.

Each level may be purchased separately or as part of a set including the Homeschool Kit which consists of the Student Textbook, the Homeschool Packet which has all the answers, and the Test Forms Booklet.

Saxon Teacher has its own website with placement tests, an to ask questions, and enrichment activities. Just click here to visit. To benefit this website and receive a discount, you can purchase it at Christian Book Distributors by using this link:. Superb product! This goes along with Saxon Algebra 2. It is very easy to understand and explains step-by-step. Great investment! We liked Dive for teaching, but really wanted to be able to see each problem worked out and talked out when we needed- so we use both.

A little expensive, but I have several children to go through. We are using Saxon Teacher 87 for the first time. Dd says that it sounds like a "really" old lady and that she doesn't explain the "why" behind the examples. BUT I think the visual is helping her to understand better. I may still purchase the DIVE dvds and see how they work or use both like a pp.

I really like it! I like his teaching style I wish it covered the problems from the textbook, but I still feel like my son would not "hate" these. David Shormann's voice is very calming, which helps her I think! I highly recommend them, and plan to use them as long as we use Saxon. David Shormann now has his own math, starting with Algebra I, so I might do that when we get there instead of Saxon I think it is a live online class. We've used both Saxon Teacher and Art Reed.

Dd actually liked both. She liked how Art Reed taught the lesson. He included lots of examples but not solutions to the actual text problems. Saxon Teacher is a "talking white board. As a CD, it is restricted to being played only on a computer. They are available for the current editions of Saxon Math from Math 54 through Calculus—and for some of the older Saxon editions as well.

The student hears the voice in the background as the writing appears on the board. There is a printed version of the solution for each of the daily problems.

If you have purchased the new soft cover editions of Math 54, 65, 76 or 87, the solutions manuals are included in the price of the Homeschool Kit for these four courses. I know I have been a huge Teaching Textbooks fan, but come to find out, I am be the only one in my homeschool who is! I like it because I am not strong in math, and although I can do long division and basic "retail math" from my days in retail management, teaching it is another story.

My 5th grade dd is bored with it. We are in lesson 70 something and she keeps complaining she is not learning anything new. I agree that is is lacking in some areas, but it works with our lifestyle of chaotic homeschooling with a tot and at home businesses.

I am looking for feedback, please. If you have used both, comparisons would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Joined: Aug 22, Messages: 37 Likes Received: 0. I think it's more expensive but it has the exact same problems as the book and has all the problems including test problems whereas the DIVE shows different problems.

I think that's the only difference.
